![]() There is debate about weather the poetic sonnets were deliberately written to correspond with the intentions of the musical work. It is possible Vivaldi wrote them himself, however the author's identity is unknown. ![]() Each concerto tries to portray a picture of the respective season it is entitled as, and Vivaldi gives specific instructions occasionally on the score for this purpose, for example - "Langour Caused the Heat" for Summer 1st Movement, "The Drunkards Have Fallen Asleep" for Autumn 1st Movement "The Barking Dog" for Spring 2nd Movement "The Storm" for Summer 3rd Movement Aside from these specific instructions, four sonnets were discovered following the composition of this work, and the verses of the sonnet all appear to correspond with the movements of the concertos. It is a series of four concertos, each with three movements. It was composed after Vivaldi's visit to Rome, where he had just played for Pope Benedict XIII. The Four Season's is Vivaldi's most infamous work, and was composed in 1725.
